Getting to Zlín

BY AIR

Zlín does not have its own airport. The best option is the Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) which has daily connections to/from major worldwide destinations. There are reliable and frequent special airport buses which bring you from the airport to “Hlavní nádraží” (the main train station). You can buy tickets online at www.cd.cz or you need to have Czech crowns to buy tickets from the bus driver (60 CZK).

There are other possibilities: Vienna International Airport (Austria), Bratislava Airport (Slovak Republic), Brno Airport (Czech Republic) and Ostrava Airport (Czech Republic). There are train and bus connections to Zlín from the above cities.

BY BUS

The Czech Republic has frequent connections to/from major European cities. Most international buses arrive in Prague (Florenc) or in Brno (Zvonařka). There are several buses going to Zlín from Prague and Brno each day.

BY TRAIN

Travelling by České dráhy

The Czech Republic has an extensive railway network which is operated by České Dráhy (ČD). In addition to ČD, RegioJet and Leo Express also provide services. General information on train connections can be found at www.idos.cz. The train station in Zlín is named “Zlín-střed”. Tickets are sold at every train station but we highly recommend that you buy your tickets online and reserve a seat. The company provides first and second class travel.

All their trains stop in Otrokovice (10km from the centre of Zlín) where you have to change to the shuttle train in the direction of Vizovice or trolleybus number 6 or 2. There is also one evening train which takes you directly from Prague to Zlín (this train is named Zlínský expres).

Travelling by RegioJet

RegioJet uses a bus and train combination to get you to Zlín. It is best to buy their tickets online. Purchase a ticket to Zlín. From Prague you will take their yellow train from “Hlavní nádraží” (the main train station) to Olomouc, where you will change to the bus which stops in front of the train station on the left side. There are stewards on the train who can help you and they can also offer you some small snacks.

Travelling by LEO Express

LEO Express provides a service from Prague to Zlín. You can book a trip online. In Přerov you will get off the train and board a LEO Express mini-van or bus to Zlín. There are stewards on the train who can help you.

In all cases be sure to check the information on their websites and book your tickets online. There are discounts for people under 26 years old or for the holder of ISIC card.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN ZLÍN

Public transportation in Zlín includes buses and trolleybuses. To use public transport you need a ticket, which you must stamp in the machine immediately after getting on the bus. Bus tickets can be purchased at ticket machines at bus stops for 18 CZK (you need to have coins). You can also buy a ticket at the ticket office at the train station. You also have to buy one extra ticket for each large piece of luggage you have.

Buy the 18 CZK ticket for yourself and 18 CZK ticket for your luggage. Number 2 and number 6 buses go from Otrokovice train station to “Náměstí Práce” bus stop, which is located in the centre of Zlín and our university buildings are within walking distance.
