STUDY CONTROL PROCEDURE AND SUBMISSION OF MASTER THESIS (MT)
1. UPLOADING THE ELECTRONIC VERSION TO IS/STAG
You submit electronic version in PDF/A format. Instructions for conversion into the correct format can be found on: https://iva.k.utb.cz/wp-content/uploads/i_want_to_safe_my_final_thesis_as_a_PDF-A_document_web.pdf
Attachments must be uploaded as the second file in zip format.
The student’s thesis is uploaded via IS/STAG -> My study -> Final thesis -> Complete data about Master Thesis (or Submit electronic form of thesis). The final thesis is uploaded to IS/STAG without signatures – it concerns both the statement of the author of Master Thesis (MT) and the assignment of MT, which the student receives automatically to his school email address by March 21, 2025.
Immediately after uploading to IS/STAG, the student informs the relevant department about the submission of thesis (contacts in the table below). The assistant of the department checks the recorded work in the IS/STAG system and changes the status of the work to submitted. At this point, the work is sent for automatic control of the plagiarism by the system Theses. The department assistant also issues and sends an e-mail confirming the submission of MT.
Deadlines for completing this step:
- For Master’s degree programs, the deadline is 9 May 2025
2. SUBMISSION OF THE PRINTED VERSION
The student submits the printed MT always in 2 copies in a glued binding with double-sided printing. One copy will contain the original MT assignment and the author’s declaration including the relevant signatures (“copy to be stored”). The second copy will contain the copied official assignment including the signatures (“copy to be returned”). This year, the appearance of the MT covers has also changed. The covers are paper with a uniform design for each faculty according to the design of the TBU Library Publishing House. If someone is interested in a copy in a classic binding with hard covers, they must order an additional copy.
PRINTING IN COOPERATION WITH THE TBU LIBRARY
The TBU Library, in cooperation with the Faculty of Technology, offers the possibility to print, bind and submit the thesis without the student’s personal presence.
How to solve it with the documents?
- The original MT assignment, which is part of the printed version of the thesis, will be submitted to the TBU Library Publishing House via the faculty’s International Office.
- A copy of the MT assignment will be made by the TBU Library Publishing House from the original MT assignment and inserted into the return copy.
- The MT author’s declaration is included in the final thesis templates and will be printed together with the thesis. The student will sign the “MT author’s declaration” only on the day of the State Final Examination.
How does the order work?
- Once the student has completed the thesis and submitted it in IS/STAG, they must order the printing via the electronic form: https://nakladatelstvi.k.utb.cz/vazba/.
- Payment instructions will be sent to the student’s university email. The order becomes valid only after payment is received. To speed up the process, students should send proof of payment (a bank confirmation, a copy, or a screenshot of the payment order) to nakladatelstvi@utb.cz as soon as possible. The sooner we receive the confirmation, the sooner we can start processing the order.
- Detailed information is available at: https://nakladatelstvi.utb.cz/english/bachelors-and-masters-thesis-printing-and-binding/
If the student decides to use the TBU Library for printing and binding his/her thesis, the deadline for ordering, inserting the text into the order form and payment is as follows:
- For Master’s degree programs, the deadline is 9 May 2025
PRINTING OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
If the student does not use the services of the TBU Library, he/she must follow the following steps:
Contact the secretariat of the relevant department and agree on the form of delivery / acceptance of the signed original of the MT assignment – the deadline is 21. 3. 2025. Applications sent after this deadline will not be considered.
You need to deliver the printed and bound thesis in two copies. The signed original MT assignment and the signed statement of the MT author will be inserted in the hardcover. The deadline by which the thesis must be delivered to the given department:
- For Master’s degree programs, the delivery deadline is 9. 5. 2025.
3. CLASSIFICATION CONTROL AND STATE EXAM COURSES IN IS/STAG
The student checks the study classification for the entire study in the IS/STAG portal and controls that he/she has all State Exam courses added in IS/STAG. If there is any mistake or anything to add or change, student contacts his/her study affairs officer (Miroslava Šimoníková).
4. CREDIT FOR BP / DP
After completing the automatic control of plagiarism work in the system Theses, the supervisor add the pre-exam (=zápočet) grade in Master Thesis course in IS/STAG.
- For Master’s degree programs, the supervisor adds the grade (=zápočet) for the thesis in IS/STAG by 16 May 2025.
5. CONTROL OF STUDY OBLIGATIONS
The student requests by e-mail a study officer (Miroslava Šimoníková) to check the fulfillment of study obligations and the issuance of the Final Examination Application. The study officer will check, give feedback to the student by e-mail and send the application for the final examination to the relevant department. This point must be met by:
- The deadline for Master’s degree programs is 16 May 2025.
