Dynamic-mechanical analyzer DMA 1 Mettler Toledo
Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) is used to measure the mechanical properties of viscoelastic materials as a function of temperature or frequency. It is one of the most important thermal analysis techniques along with the generally accepted DSC, TGA and TMA techniques. Materials that can be analysed include thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, elastomers, ceramics and metals. DMA provides the following qualitative and quantitative information: Young’s modulus values versus temperature, damping characteristics and information on viscoelastic behaviour. In addition, information on polymer structure and morphology, transient phenomena, relaxation behaviour, gelation and material defects can be obtained.
